Steiny's food is just as good as grandmas homecooking! It is a good local place run by a local couple who is always trying to improve by listening to their patrons.

Made Reservations for an event in the banquet room. When we arrived the staff let groups sit in all the reserved tables. We did not get a table and had to stand during the event. The Owner was rude and combative when we asked why she let this happen. This is the second time we had come here for a similar event. Wait staff is slow unorganized and couldnt care any less if you get service or not. Do not waste your money here

Horrible service, WAY expensive $16.00 for a drink and "lunch special". Food was ok but not worth the price. Very unorganized and will never go back.

I'm surprised to see such low ratings, I'm assuming the only people reviewing are the ones who haven't been so satisfied. My boyfriend and I frequent Steiny's, as I'm always craving their butternut squash ravioli (you have to try it), they serve homemade bread with your dinner, and the nacho appetizer is delicious. They run good drink specials, even on Saturday night. My boyfriend lives in Rochester and we drive out to Steiny's as we prefer the more laid back atmosphere. Give this place a try for yourself, we've always had good service, you can tell the food is homemade. Additionally, I see the owners around almost every visit, sometimes walking around asking customers how everything is.

Don't go to this dump, I waited over 45 mins for the all you can eat fish. 45 mins and didn't see one plate. I cancel my order and the guy magically appears with fish, refused to take it off my bill. Argued with me yelling back and forth in front of customers. Insisted tht because I ordered it, I had to eat it. Even though my Friend next to me ordered fish also. Then I get the bill and was charged $5 for a side salad that should have cost a dollar as posted on their menu. If you enjoy being treated horribly and waiting an hour for deep fried food that should take 8 mins, enjoy!

Great service from Bill and Kait!!! Food is homemade and top notch. Super friendly atmosphere and staff. Highly recommend.

Food was okay. Slightly above standard bar food menu. The waiter was really different. Super nice guy, but tried to sell us on his band's new CD, which was awkward. Outside of having the Yelp Deal for 10$ for 20$, or finishing a long day at Stoney Creek, I'm not hankering to visit here again. It would require a deal or specifically the location. Not a bad watering hole.

#3 in my "Bass, Brew & BBQ/Bassmaster's Elite" series. A review of their booth at LSC Metropark, Harrison Twp, MI and not the restaurant in Shelby Twp. Last, but not least ... figured these guys were the closest vendor for any type of follow-up eating I was gonna' do, so I did them last. Looking at the menu, I was thinking "ribs?, chicken? pulled pork?", when it hit me ... "smoked turkey leg". I love those things, :). My inner caveman took over, bought two (excellent) ... no time for sides (my loss) or beverage. Besides, the crew was so friendly, I knew I'd be making it out to Shelby Twp. before the summer was over, ;). Thanks for attending the event & hope to see you there next year!

Solid place to hang out and have a few cocktails. I didn't eat here but my friends did and the food looked delicious -- especially the appetizers. I went specifically to see live music and it was a nice, relaxing setting. The craft beer menu is especially nice and the drinks are great prices (the SO and I got 3 craft beers and one glass of cider and it was only around $18). The service was especially great: the server came up to me frequently and asked if I needed another drink (yes, please!) while another server asked if I needed a chair because I had been standing for a while. I like to stand, what can I say. Cool place.

Lunch is a very good time to go to Steiny's. They have some nice lunch specials for just $6.99. Today we had the Parmesan encrusted tilapia and a chicken pita. Both were just excellent. What's also nice is the service. We were served by Marco today and also the last time we were at Steiny's. Marco is very professional and attentive while allowing you to maintain your privacy and enjoy a quiet meal. He is also a good conversationalist. The food, service and the bar, make this a good place to enjoy a meal.

Awful, just absolutely terrible. No atmosphere, terrible service, and disgusting food. What is this place even supposed to be? It seems to me that no one knows what they're doing there, and how dead they are is a clear reflection of this. I avoid this place like the plague-owners are shady.
(1)Jim B.
The food was good and the server very attentive. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and they were not busy. How the service is during busy times remains to be seen. Will give it another try. I recommend.

Fantastic "home town" bar/restaurant. Local owners do an awesome job of listening to their patrons and making improvements along the way. Bar and waitstaff have greatly improved and the menu has also gotten better. Try the pizza and the new recipe chicken wings. For those of you that have given this place a negative review, give them another try.

My wife and I had the best meal that we have ever had, the beef stroganoff was the best ever. Steve our waiter was the best server we have ever had as well. If you want the best food and the best service all in one place, Steinys Restaurant is the place to go.
(5)Craig L.
Service is fantastic. Get the pulled pork and use the Steinys sauce. Sweet with a good punch of spice.

My family and I have been to steinys many times and the owners are exceptionally friendly, but the service of the staff is not. Orders are frequently messed up and servers have to be constantly reminded to bring drinks and condiments. The food is decent, not great but what I expected out of a bar type of restaurant. The only reason I continue to go to steinys is because of its proximity to my house and I question why I go everytime. Do not waste your time.

Our favorite place to go in shelby rochester area! The service is always great and the owners are always checking on tables! The food is always great and a pretty good beer selection. The laid back atmosphere and the great people keep us going back for more! A late night food menu would be the only thing I wish they had! Give it a try!

SKIP THIS PLACE. My husband and I have given this place three chances, simply because it's near by and we always think, "maybe they've worked out the kinks." Sadly, we were wrong again last night and it's the last time we visit. First off, the place is LOUD. Yes, it's a bar. Yes, we love bars! But we could not believe how loud the quizzo/bar patrons were. It was so loud we could barely have a conversation at our table. Second, the waitress messed up our order. That would have been no big deal, but it seems like every single time we go there our order is messed up. Get it together! Third, the food was forgettable, as it always is. You never leave thinking, "wow, that was amazing!" ...it's always more like, "wow, I can't believe we came back here. Again."

I just had a great lunch at Steiny's Tavern. I took my mother, sister and our kids to celebrate my sister's birthday. The restaurant was empty and the service was exceptional. We ordered an appetizer that came out in a timely manner. We were still interested and not half starved. The drinks were readily refilled and when we did put our order in we had a very short wait time for our lunches. The food was hot and fresh and tasty. When we were ready for the check there was no wait for carry out boxes or the bill! Very relaxing experience.

I've been to Steiny's twice now and have had the unfortunate experience of being seated in the same awful servers section both times. This waitress is seriously awful. She's nice enough and well-meaning but serving tables is not her forte. The first time she kept apologizing and blaming everything on the kitchen and being sat 3 tables at once and bla bla bla. She took forever to get our orders and took even longer bring our bill. The second time it wasn't as busy but I ended up waiting 20 minutes to get our bill. That's a long time. She disappeared into the back and I was left at a table with a bunch of plates. My husband and son had already gone to the car. To me that's just absurd. As for the food my husband absolutely loves the club. I had the spinach and ricotta pasta the first time and it was bland and just plain gross. I didn't end up eating it. The second time I had the pulled pork and that wasn't too bad. The chicken fingers are tasty too. The fries are way too think. I'm not totally sure what I think of their sweet bread basket either. Tasty bread but not what I'm looking for at the start of dinner. Overall it's just OK. I would go back but I don't want to get stuck in that servers section again so I probably won't.

Maurice salad. Lobster bisque. The food was extraordinary. But they need to decide...is it a bar or restaurant. Both seem out of place the way its set up now.
(4)Cyndi J.
Far from where I live but I came here for a fundraiser. Nice place, cold beer. They have your average bar menu with some nice specials. I've heard most of their food is good. I got the patty melt and it wasn't bad. Summer shandy on tap - so, for me, always a good thing.

UH-OH! We went back expecting the usual quality and freshness that Steiny's has provided in the past. This time however....Horrible. The burger seemed to be smaller than previous visits and I also think it may have been a frozen patty. That is SACRILEGIOUS!!! Along with it being cooked well done and not the medium i requested is also disappointing. The fries were bland as well. My friend had the Fish & Chips which has always been a go-to on the menu was also over cooked and very dry. Hopefully this is not an indication of Steiny's Tavern's best days being behind them.

I have been to Steiny's twice now, both times for lunch, and had a great meal. The first time was the turkey reuben, which was delicious ( the cole slaw was really good) and a very nice portion. The homemade chips were fantastic as well. Service was good- wasn't very busy at the time. The second time I had the Jeff's Grilled Cheese with the sliced tomatoes which was good too. Nice warm sandwich, lots of cheese, and the tomatoes in it were a nice twist. The service was good and the beer selection and prices are good too. Never been here for dinner, but I think it's a great spot to grab a good lunch.

A very nice place to eat. Food is good and service is usually good. However their pizza isnt what it used to be.

We have been coming here since it was Fintini's several years ago. They obviously have someone who knows how to cook because the food is really outstanding, especially for a bar. On our last visit I had the lasagna which was huge, and Italian restaurant quality and the garlic bread was great too. The wife had the zesty rooster with the steak fries. The sandwich was great and the steak fries are awesome! Unfortunately the service and dumb policies don't match the food quality. On the last 2 visits, the service was very s l o w. The meal mentioned above took 2 hours between the long wait for the food and the long wait to cash out. The thing I really don't get is their policies that seem to be set up just to make you angry. On a prior visit my wife ordered a sandwich that listed guacamole as one of the ingredients. When my wife placed her order, the waiter said " oh, by the way, the guacamole that comes with your sandwich is $1.50 extra. Why she asked? Because avocados are out of season.....what? Then tonight, the menu says its pasta Thursday and pastas are $1 off. Not this Thursday. The waitress explained that because it's crab fest and they want you to order something from that part of the menu, the pasta isn't $1 off. Ok, so really who cares about $1.50 for guacamole and $1 for a pasta special??? Nobody really, it's just really stupid to potentially piss off your customers over such little common sense stuff. Just add $1.50 to the price of the sandwich or list it as an option, and if you have daily specials, honor them! They also really need to work on the amount of time it takes to prepare the food, and train their servers. Sorry For the painfully long review. In short, food is great, service isn't. Hopefully they will fix the service....

Cute place but food was not that great. I ordered the Maurice salad which was awful! It was nothing like a real Maurice salad! Very skimpy on the ham, and they forgot that a Maurice has Swiss cheese & the dressing was awful! It had green olive slices that ruined any taste the salad may have had. I only ate half the salad and left that rest! Also had the nacho appetizer, which was cheese melted on a tostadas with a small amount of chicken, that I paid extra for, and a tiny bit of pick de gallo. Not what I consider as nachos. Unfortunately, we won't be back!

We have had several bad experiences lately, the food has gone downhill and the service is just awful. We went in with a party of 6, 4 meals were okay. The 2 that were bad, 1 was removed from the bill. They actually charged .99 cents for the salad and they forgot the beverage. Waitress apologized for the poor service and food, if you know you are providing poor service wouldn't you change or get a new job??? Sad to say I think we are done and It's to bad the entertainment is pretty darn good.

My wife and I were out for an afternoon walk . We had seen this tavern and decided to give it a try. We both felt like a cobb salad, 17 bucks with chicken!!!!!! this is a bar! The same salad is less at Andiamos, The waitress was in upsell mode the entire time we we were there. The hard metal rock is annoying and quite odd for lunch. I would never go back.

Ate here for lunch the first time. The place was not clean, every table was dirty when we were told to seat ourselves. Staff proceeded to sweep the floor near us and leave in a pile very close. Disgusting. The Maurice salad was drenched in dressing that was no where near the Maurice they claimed it to be. My husband had the special which was chicken Alfredo. The bill came and the Alfredo was $15 , not nearly a lunch special price. I asked what the normal price was if this was a "special" as the menu shows the dinner price at less than the lunch special! While the waitress did ask a manager and discounted by $3 - $12 for a small lunch portion was ridiculous. Went another time for dinner - reluctantly - for a business meeting - My guest sent his steak bits back three times as he asked for rare and each time they came drenched in Cajun and burnt to a crisp, well done. We gave it two chances. Not again.

Stopped here for drinks on a Saturday night. The place wasn't very busy, the staff was friendly and the drinks were good. The place was also very clean unlike other reviews suggest. I will definitely go back!
(4)Bill S.
I had purchased a living social special plus a friend of mine frequented this establishment. I had the pulled pork dinner and my fiancee had the smoked chicken. The Cole slaw that came with with our meals was bland. The meats were very under seasoned. The place itself is fun and the staff attentive.

Had a great lunch at Steiny's. Diane, our waitress was attentive, and quick to serve our food. My partner had the Maurice Salad, which he devoured. I had the pulled chicken chicken on a Kaiser roll, with house made chips. They bring several variations of BBQ sauce so you can pick your favorite. Looks like the new managent will finally has it together! Nice work. Hang in there

Food was very good, but table service disappeared when the place became busy. When we arrived, the place was about 1/3rd full. When we left, people were stalking tables. We were seated immediately, and actually had 2 servers for a short while while they figured out who had our table. Our drink order was taken immediately , and food order was promptly taken as soon as the drinks were delivered. Appetizer (shrimp) was very tasty, but seemed a bit expensive for the portion (5). However, I would recommend and order it again. I had the Roast Turkey, and my son had the Fish and Chips. Both were great meals for both quality and portion, but this is where the service began to fall short. My son asked for ketchup which never arrived. He then ran out of tartar sauce. Our drinks then ran dry. All of the waitstaff and helpers were either overwhelmed on the floor, or disappeared in the kitchen. We gave up on the ketchup, but asked for additional tarter sauce with the doggy bag as we were long done with our meals. I will give this place a second chance since the food was good.

Nice decor. Nice waitstaff. LOUSY crowd. What a bunch of snobs. The music sucked, the food was mediocre at best. Will NOT return.
(2)Heidi L.
First time here, went because I had a Living Social coupon. Service was pretty slow but in their defense only 1 person running bar and floor. Was told they sent everyone home early. In the business myself so I understand. Food was good, will try again.
(4)Stephanie H.
Been here twice. The first time the server was very nice, let me try a sample of the lobster bisque. It was ok not a fan but never had it and it was nice to know I could sample it. Also, we wanted an alternate app just nacho cheese and tortillas and they were willing to tweek that. The food is really good and great service. Interior is pretty cool, large. The only reason I would not give it 5 it's in a crappy location or they need some more booming businesses to surround it. I only went 2 for lunch during the week and there were only maybe less than 10. Worth a try though.
